mother

i take after my mum, dancing in school with the long ponytail.

museum wedding

my sweet friends sloane and christian got hitched at the new mint museum this weekend! they both love the beatles a lot so their first dance, when sloane walked down the isle, etc. was all while the beatles were playing. i thought that was especially lovely. the whole wedding actually was quite beautiful plus we danced a good bit. i love weddings. afterwards we went to a suite at the top of the omni and danced more. wedding season is so fun and my friends are so sweet. yes!

ps sorry about the poor quality iPhone photographs, i didn't want to be obnoxious with my giant camera not that roaming around in these masks and hats and boas aren't equally as distracting . . .

drifters

last night i had a really nice dream, listening to this song makes me remember it so clearly plus the song itself is just as beautiful as my memory. i wrote all of this nonsense down in my dream moleskine but that has to be between me and my moleskine.

i like the part of the video that says "wake up! dreaming won't peel potatoes!"

just a few things

1) i'd like to cut my hair into a long bob and i think i'm doing it this week, probably tomorrow.

2) i tried/made a new parfait mash-up and it is quite delicious. bananas, grahams, vanilla yogurt, cinnamon. paired with brewing the season's pumpkin spice coffee it is even better.

3) lately my favorite thing to do is dog walk and listen to my ipod. now i get why lina's life is ruling so much, aside from currently living in new york. beautiful music while the leaves are swirling. early in the morning with my coffee and later in the day while the sun is red. i've noticed taking some time to really think makes my whole life a lot happier.

4) my decision making is allowing me to start traveling more, very soon. i'm beginning to think i really need it. i wanna see so much of this world.

good morning rose garden, good morning rose girl

took an early morning walk past my favorite spot, the rose garden house. a little old woman breeds tons of rose plants and right now they are in full bloom. this one was my favorite and it is called the gemini.

i also found these glasses and this dress at a second hand shop yesterday. i feel like i am in full bloom as well. hooray for all things new!

went to asheville for my birthday and it was so beautiful and quiet and relaxing. all of those things i needed so badly and i don't really need anything. i stayed on the top of a mountain in a cabin that belongs to a sweet older man and his wife. they have a ton of land with animals roaming, like that striped cow that i found most interesting. it was so nice to walk around to different coffeehouses and little second hand shops. i also spent a lot of time listening/singing to nancy sinatra. the night of my birthday we went out for shrimp and cocktails and visited my friend bracken at her gallery. she is such a sweet girl. i also met a local sculptor named sylvia.

i wrote this in my moleskine the morning of my birthday:
today is the day that i feel most at peace. the quiet and the nothingness all around. cars and machines can only be heard if you really listen for them. yesterday and last night i spent time staring off into the mountains and the world and realized what it means to be right here, right now. as the night grew darker i was faced with more and more blackness and realized that this really is all that we have and all that is ours: right here, right now. there is so much beauty in this world that is forgotten in the rush, the hustle to be more. when will we start wanting what we already have? when will we realize there is beauty that is always around us? the sky from the top of a mountain, the way the sun beats down on the tops of the trees after an overnight rain, remembering your roots by identifying certain trees like the tulip poplar. these are beautiful things that are in front of me right here, right now. this is all that is mine.

alexa chung for madewell release party

threw a party for alexa chung's new line with madewell and i must say, the clothes are to die for! i really wouldn't mind having that open-eye pouch or the poppy swirling dress my sweet new friend olivia is wearing. i spent nearly half of the party simply drooling over everything newly shoppable although i'm sure all of the treats had something to do with it. if you missed the party be sure to peep in a madewell to fall in love for yourself or shop online with madewell (here), even though it couldn't possibly be the same- these girls are gold. xo darlings
